Omega Foundation Services is proud to announce our partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, on a significant project to restore, preserve, and protect America’s iconic Everglades. This initiative will improve the health of 2.4 million acres of South Florida’s ecosystems, including the Central Everglades and Indian River Lagoon.
We are honored to have been awarded the $10.15M C-11 Impoundment Land Clearing contract, a key part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). Our scope of work includes clearing and grubbing within the project limits, creating two aboveground impoundments and a wetland buffer strip. These features will reduce seepage from WCA 3A/3B, lower phosphorus levels, capture water lost to tide and improve stormwater management for both urban and natural systems.
Additionally, this project will enhance water flow, increase storage capacity, and contribute to long-term resilience in the Everglades. The cleared areas will support approximately 563,000 acres in WCA 3A/3B and 200,000 acres in the greater Everglades, benefiting threatened and endangered species, as well as many wading birds!
